Differences between moving and copying devices

Refer to Copying a device. - Moving a device means creating a duplicate instance of the item for another organization. The original is inactivated and a link is created from the new item back to the original.
- Only the selected item is copied or moved when the item is either a child or parent device.
- Navigate to an existing device.
- Select Move or Move Device.
The Move Device dialog box will open in a new window.
- Click the Organization selector icon and select the destination organization.
- Click Move.
The Edit Device page opens with selected fields pre-populated with data from the original item. A Moved From link to the previous organization is displayed below the Notes field.
NOTE A copy of the moved item remains with the previous organization, but will be inactivated. Clicking on the Moved From link opens the Edit Device page for the listed device. If you do not have permission to edit this device, the page opens in read-only mode.
