Deleting a project
SECURITY Permission to view projects. Refer to Project security settings.
NAVIGATION > Projects > Search > Projects > context menu > Delete Project
You can delete a project as long as no dependent entities associated with it. If you want to delete a project with associated time entries, you must first remove them from the project and then delete the project. Refer to Delete time entries on a project.
How to...
- To open the page, use the path(s) in the Security and navigation section above.
- Select Delete Project from the context menu for the project.
- A warning message will appear. Click Yes to continue deleting the project.
- If the project has no associated entities, it will be deleted. If there are associated entities, a list of the entity types will appear. You must delete any dependent entities before you can delete the project.
NOTE Deletion cannot be undone.
NOTE To delete a project with time entries against it, you must first delete the time entries, then delete the project. If the time entries have gone through Approve and Post, you must un-post the time entries before you can delete them.
To un-post time entries:
- Go to > Admin > Features & Settings > Contracts & Un-Posting > Un-Post > Labor.
- Search for all labor entries associated with this project and un-post them. Refer to Searching posted billing items and un-posting transactions.
- Click the Actual Hours Reconciliation link.
To delete time entries that were not yet approved and posted (only the person who entered the time can delete the time):
- If the timesheet was submitted, the resource's timesheet approver needs to reject that timesheet first so it becomes available for editing again.
- Go to My > Timesheets > Current Timesheets and navigate to the timesheets that contain the project labor entries.
- Check all time entries you want to delete.
- Click Delete.
The project can now be deleted.
If you do not wish to delete the project, you can inactivate it instead.
To inactivate a project, select the Inactive status. Inactivating a project puts the project on hold. The project will no longer appear on Active project lists, and tasks will no longer appear on the My Tasks and Tickets page. Resources will no longer be able to track time or enter notes on the tasks for this project.
To re-activate an inactive project, select any status other than Inactive or Complete.
