Transferring stocked items to another inventory location

Stocked items are not always in the location where they are needed, but you can easily transfer them between inventory locations, including RESOURCE: locations. Each transfer is tracked on The Inventory Transfers & Updates page.

To transfer stocked items between inventory locations, do the following:

1. To open the page, use the path(s) in the Security and navigation section above.
2. Locate the stocked item to be transferred.
3. Select Transfer Stocked Items from the context menu. The Transfer Stocked Items/Units window opens. Complete the following fields:

Field	Description
Product Name	This read-only field displays the name of the product associated with the stocked item being transferred.
From Inventory Location	This read-only field displays the name of the inventory location where the selected item is currently located. The item will be transferred from this inventory location.
Quantity	Required field that specifies the number of the selected stocked items to transfer. Type a number directly in the field. The quantity must be greater than 0 and cannot exceed the number displayed in the Available field.
Available	This field refers to stocked items, purchase order items, and product quote items that you keep in inventory. It specifies the number of units of this item currently available in the specified inventory location. Available = (On Hand - Reserved/Picked). If a quote is lost, the reservation is released and the stocked item reverts to a status of Available.
To Inventory Location	This required field specifies the inventory location to which the selected items will be transferred. Select an inventory location from the drop-down list. NOTE   When Procurement is enabled, you may see RESOURCE: [Resource Name] as an inventory location. The list contains users in your local organization that were configured as inventory locations.
Transfer Note	This optional field allows you to enter any notes applicable to the transfer. The note will appear on the Inventory Transfers & Updates page.  Refer to The Inventory Transfers & Updates page.
Stocked Item(s)	This field appears only when the product is serialized. When the field is visible, it is required. Click the Serial Number selector icon to open the serial number data selector and select the serial numbers of the stocked items you are transferring. Each serial number appears on a separate line. The count of serial numbers must equal the number in the Quantity field, or you will not be able to save.

4. Click Save & Close.

If the inventory product is not already set up at the inventory location to which the item is being transferred, it will be created automatically and carry over its assigned Minimum and Maximum values from the current location. When transferring non-serialized items, the oldest stocked items are transferred first.
