System requirements
Autotask requires a supported browser and a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher.
Several options, extensions and integrations have additional requirements. Refer to Requirements for Autotask extensions.
Autotask is available in several supported languages and character sets. Refer to Character sets and language support.
NOTE We do not support any Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate, Pre-release, or unsupported versions of operating systems, browsers, or integrated applications. Our Quality Assurance group applies full regression test suites for every release on each of the listed Operating Systems and browsers to ensure full and continuous compatibility. While customers may choose to operate the Autotask application on unsupported systems, any such operation should be considered at customer's own risk.
Touch support for the desktop version
The following parts of the desktop version of Autotask are supported in a browser on tablets:
- Top navigation menu
- Worklist
- Dashboard
- Widgets
IMPORTANT Some areas of Autotask use right-click menus. These and some other technologies are currently not supported with tablets. While other pages in the desktop version of Autotask may work or partially work using touch navigation, they are not tested or supported. We recommend using the LiveMobile version to access Autotask from tablets.
Autotask is browser-independent and supports both 32-bit and 64-bit browsers on Windows and Mac platforms:
Platform | Browser | Minimum Version | Maximum Version |
---|---|---|---|
Windows | Microsoft Edge | 80.x | Current major release |
Windows and Mac | Apple Safari | Current major release | Current major release |
Windows and Mac | Google Chrome | Current stable release | Current stable release |

Asian languages
For Asian languages (currently Chinese and Japanese), Autotask uses double-byte databases. Double-byte databases can store, retrieve and properly sort data in all character sets.
Multi-language support
Autotask customers who do not have a localized language version of Autotask available, and whose language and character requirements are not supported in a single-byte database environment, may request that Datto provision an English-language database that supports multi-byte character sets for other languages, including Cyrillic, Devanagari and others.
Autotask instances provisioned with multi-language support will allow you to enter, store and use multi-byte data throughout your Autotask instance (i.e. for names, addresses, contracts and billing information, etc.), while your Autotask user interface will remain in English.
Refer to Multi-byte character support.
European languages
For European languages (currently English, German, and Spanish), Autotask uses single-byte databases. Single-byte databases are capable of storing, retrieving and properly sorting data only in one character set, defined at the time your Autotask instance is configured, but the performance for European languages is significantly improved.
Supported characters
Single-byte databases will support storage, retrieval and proper sorting of these characters in Autotask:
!"#$%&'()*+,./0123456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[\]^`
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~€‚ƒ„…†‡ˆ‰Š‹ŒŽ‘’“”•–—˜™š›œžŸ ¡¢£¤¥¦§¨
©ª«¬®¯°±²³´µ¶•¸¹º»¼½¾¿ÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏÐÑÒÓÔÕÖ×
ØÙÚÛÜÝÞßàáâãäåæçèéêëìíîïðñòóôõö÷øùúûüýþÿ
Any other textual data stored in a single-byte zone database is not supported, and will often be displayed as the question mark character (?).
Fully supported languages
Autotask is able to store, retrieve and correctly display text from the following languages in any single-byte database:
- Danish
- Dutch (Belgian/Flemish)
- Dutch (Netherlands)
- English
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Italian
- Malay
- Norwegian
- Spanish
- Swedish
- Portuguese (Brazilian)
- Portuguese (Portugal)
Sorting
Sorting is only expected to be accurate for the culture of the target language in single-byte zones (i.e. English databases will sort correctly for English, Spanish databases will sort correctly for Spanish, etc.). So, while we can accurately store and retrieve the Danish Ø symbol in an English database, it does not sort correctly according to Danish sorting rules – it sorts according to English sorting rules, which are different from Danish.
